Fiber Connectors: Can You Tell the Differences?

The MPO8 connector is one of the key elements of the Propel™ solution. Shown below are the module configurations that are available. It allows for a smooth migration path to 400G and 800G Ethernet applications.

imVision® Updates:

  • imVision System Manager v9.6.3 has been released!
  • imVision gains real-time visibility into OSP cabling. Click here to read the latest application note on CommScope imVision integration with VIAVI FTH-5000.
  • A new imVision and Matterport video was posted on CommScope.com, you can explore several use cases for using Matterport technology to enhance user experience with imVision. Click here to view! Matterport is a well-known name in photogrammetry-based 3D reality capture for creating immersive digital twins.

Standards Byte

 

Engineers testing fiber optic links and channels will soon be reading the update from the IEC 14763-3 Standard on testing of optical fiber cabling. The actual standard was published in 2014 when the MPO connectivity entered the market. CommScope is leading the standard updates by writing and finalizing the document. The final document has a planned release of early 2024. The major enhancement of this standard and how it helps consist of:

  • Focus on cleaning of the connectors and not the amount of scratches --> faster deployment of fiber optic links
  • Introduction of reference connectors for the test cords --> lower and defined measurement uncertainties
  • Step by step test procedure for all the different link and channel options --> clear process on how to achieve consistent results
