• 4PPoE compliance in accordance with IEEE 802.bt Type 4
• ISO/TIA component up to 500 MHz

CommScope’s EPX Fiber panels
In need for a standard fiber port density, flexible solution which allows interchangeable MPO modules, adapter packs and splice cassettes, including in-panel splicing using splice trays? Then you may want to check the EPX FO panels family offering.

Key features:
• Compact, lightweight panel designed for operational simplicity
• Flexible solution which allows interchangeable MPO modules, adapter packs and splice cassettes, including in-panel splicing using splice trays
• Options available with legacy G2 or LGX/PNL (SD-Standard Density) compatibility

Fiber Connectors: Can you tell the differences?
The MPO16 connector is one of the key elements of the Propel™ solution is shown below in a close-up view. It has been designed to smooth the migration path to 400G and 800G Ethernet applications. And while it is the same size as the MPO8, 12 or 24 connectors, there are some key differences you need to be aware of.

1. The gauging holes are further apart.

2. The keying mechanism is shifted left to avoid the connection with any other MPO connectors.

3. It is an APC (angled polished) connector only, for both MM and SM.

4. The housing is black with a dark green push-pull mechanism.

There is more information about Propel on the dedicated landing page and resources center here.

Standards Updates

Was it a surprise for you?
CommScope launched the 16 fiber MPO Multimode connector with an APC design. An APC connector has a better reflectance, which helps the transceivers and the SNR ratio. This has been standardized in ANSI/TIA 604-18 and is in the process of being standardized in IEC 61754-7-4. The IEEE standardized in 802.3cm the 400G Ethernet versions and in the coming 802.3df the 800G Ethernet versions. The IEC 11801-1 cabling standard will be updated with the MPO16 APC connector to reflect the actual market situation and the available transceivers. Depending on the transceiver manufacturer, the 200GSR4 versions with the MPO8/12 versions can be UPC or APC in Multimode. As a refresher, MPO singlemode connectors are only APC.
