CommScope Technical Family Webinar

Join us for the next CommScope Technical Family Webinar, “SYSTIMAX® 2.0” on March 14th.

With the advent of NBASE-T, customers had two cabling options to choose from: Category 6 or Category 6A. Category 6 is only rated to 1GbE and may require expensive and time-consuming mitigating strategies to support NBASE-T. Category 6A is more than capable of supporting NBASE-T and is the best choice looking ahead, but it also requires a higher investment. In this webinar we discuss NBASE-T design considerations, the latest TSBs, and factors to think about when considering – What is the best cabling option for NBASE-T?

Solutions and Product Updates

CommScope
has made a cosmetic change to the Jack Strain Relief Cap. These strain relief caps, which are currently smoked gray and blue, as shown in the image above left, will be changing to a white color. There will be no impact to the functionality or strength of the caps. The strain reliefs currently available in the market remain applicable.

At the same time, CommScope will also consolidate these 2 caps to 1 cap to be used for both Cat5e and Cat6 jacks. Customers can expect to see the new caps as early Q2 2024. Specific timing will vary by region, depending on the inventory levels of materials. There will be no change to MIDs or pricing.

This change will affect following preloaded panels:

  • 760237054 UNP-UDDM-SL-1U-48
  • 760237055 UNPA-UDDM-SL-1U-48
  • 760237060 NPP-UDDM-SL-1U-48
  • 760237061 NPPA-UDDM-SL-1U-48

This change will also affect the following family of jacks:

Cat6 Jacks

  • Cat6 SL
  • USL600
  • KJ610
  • UKJ600
  • UNJ600

Cat5e Jacks

  • SL Cat5e
  • KJ510
  • UNJ500

In order to streamline our jack colors in our copper jack portfolio, CommScope decided to make a cosmetic change to their NETCONNECT®, Uniprise® and CommScope copper jacks to align with the current color palette of their SYSTIMAX® jacks. This change will affect only the following colors: Orange / Blue / Red / Yellow / Green and Violet. An example of the new colors can be seen above.

As a result, we will change the MIDs of the affected jacks. The current impacted MIDs will be phased out over the next 9 months, depending on the available stock. There will be no impact to the functionality or performance of the jacks. Customers can expect to see the new colored jacks as early Q2 2024. Specific timing will vary by region, depending on the inventory levels of materials. CommScope will assist in the transition of existing installations. For new installations, we encourage ordering the new MIDs.
